As YWIES TX continues to develop, our faculty portfolio across all divisions and disciplines keeps improving. For the 2026‑2027 academic year, a cohort of new teachers with prestigious overseas and domestic academic backgrounds and rich international‑education experience has joined our school. Working closely with the existing team, they will jointly build an inclusive, diverse and inspiring learning community.

Western Vice Principal

Ms Joanna Hoctor

A graduate of Limerick School of Art and Design, Ms Hoctor holds the UK’s National Professional Qualification for Leading Behaviour and Culture (NPQLBC). She has 15‑year professional experience in Art & Design and 13‑year bilingual‑education experience in Shanghai. 

Prior to joining, she has served as Western Vice‑Principal at Yew Wah International Education School of Shanghai Gubei. She has held multiple senior leadership roles at well‑known Shanghai international schools, including Director of School Culture & Inclusion and Vice‑Principal (Pastoral). She has also led curriculum development and teaching in multiple schools.

Secondary English Teacher

Mr Rory Berrill

Master of Education from the University of Buckingham, Mr Berrill holds dual expertise in TESOL and visual communication arts. 

He specialises in A‑Level English, IGCSE ESL / First Language English and AP English Language. He has worked at international programmes across Tianjin, Shanghai, and Thailand, and once served as Director of Studies for a well‑known education institution. He excels in syllabus development, creative lesson design, formative assessment and student feedback. Well‑organised in class delivery, he boasts rich cross‑cultural teaching experience across multiple countries.

Secondary Mandarin Teacher

Ms Ines Zhang

Master of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages from East China Normal University, PGCEi certification from the University of Nottingham (UK), and qualified Chinese‑language teacher for secondary schools in China. 

With over ten years of teaching experience in international schools across multiple countries, she is proficient in IB DP, A‑Level and IGCSE Mandarin curricula for first‑language, second‑language and foreign‑language learners. She is experienced in organising Chinese speech contests, cultural festivals and CCA activities, with solid track‑records as form tutor and study‑tour supervisor.

English Primary Lead

Mr Nickolas Hook

Graduate of California State University, Chico. A PYP‑certified educator with 15 years of EAL teaching experience in international schools across China.

He worked as a Primary EAL teacher at Yew Chung Chongqing and other international schools. He independently designed sheltered‑instruction curricula, enabling 90 % of his EAL students to progress to ESL proficiency. Well‑versed in assessment frameworks including WIDA and Read Write Inc., he led internal EAL teacher training and chaired the school’s AI‑for‑teaching committee. He has also served as PYP Foreign Teacher Coordinator, bringing rich experience in staff administration and IB‑authorisation preparation.

Primary Chinese Teacher

Ms Maggie Wu

Master of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages from Beijing Language and Culture University, Bachelor of Chinese Language & Literature from Nanjing Normal University. She holds Senior High‑School Chinese Teaching Qualification, Mandarin Proficiency Level‑2 Grade‑A and College English Test Band‑6 certificate. 

She has many years of Chinese‑teaching experience at home and overseas. Having worked at bilingual schools such as YWIES Guangzhou and taught Mandarin in Japan and multinational enterprises, she is adept at teaching national‑curriculum Chinese for Grades 1‑5 and form‑tutor management. Her students have won multiple awards in competitions including the Chinese Language Newspaper Cup and Colorful Composition Contest. She has hands‑on experience in project‑based learning, national curriculum delivery and international bilingual classroom practice.

PE Teacher

Mr Andrew Delaney

With over ten years of PE teaching and management experience in international schools, Mr Delaney has held leadership roles including PE Specialist, Curriculum Lead and Head Football Coach at reputable international schools and kindergartens. He holds professional certifications in child protection and first‑aid. 

He excels at building progressive PE curricula aligned with international standards and organising inter‑school tournaments and sports days. He applies digital video analysis for instructional feedback and advocates inclusive PE to foster lifelong physical‑activity habits among students.

Academic Support Teacher

Ms Li Fang

MSc in Developmental Disorders from the University of Nottingham (UK), Master of Applied Psychology from Southwest University, plus two bachelor’s degrees in Rehabilitation Therapy and English. Her credentials include BCBA (Board‑Certified Behaviour Analyst), National Secondary‑Level Psychological Counsellor, certified therapist for the UK New Forest Parenting Programme (NFPP), and Senior High‑School English Teaching Qualification. 

She brings eight‑year hands‑on experience in learning‑and‑development support for children and adolescents. She specialises in student assessment, individualised support‑plan writing, one‑on‑one and group intervention, parent empowerment and interdisciplinary collaboration. Previously employed at PKUCare Brain Health, she led the development of professional training curricula.

School Counselor

Ms Lily Yang

Master of Developmental Psychology (Youth‑Risk Intervention track) from the University of Amsterdam, Master of Education in Children’s Learning & Development from East China Normal University, Bachelor’s degree from Nanjing Normal University. 

She has extensive mental‑health‑education experience in both public and bilingual‑school contexts. Her full‑range competencies cover individual counselling, group guidance, SEL curriculum design and teacher crisis‑intervention training. She has received honours including “Distinguished Educator” and “Outstanding Contributor to Education” from Changning District, Shanghai.

The arrival of these new teachers further strengthens our professional capacity across all year groups and disciplines. They bring fresh momentum for YWIES Tongxiang to build a high‑quality, diverse and inclusive holistic‑education system, empowering every student to achieve all‑round growth academically, mentally and physically.
