A-Level Results

On 11 August, CAIE A Level results were released, with YWIES Tongxiang students achieving excellent outcomes. The proportion of A*-A grades reached 35.3%, while 80.7% of grades were awarded A*-C, reflecting strong overall performance. Across individual subjects, students achieved numerous A*/A grades in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, demonstrating clear strengths in STEM pathways. Digital Media achieved a 100% A*-B rate, while Art also delivered impressive results. English Literature achieved a 100% A*-A rate, reflecting the school’s established strength in English education. In Chinese, 83.3% of grades were A*-A, with all students achieving a pass grade, highlighting Yew Wah’s strong foundation in Chinese language and culture education.

These results reflect students’ sustained commitment and the outcomes of high-quality teaching and learning.

Eden

Delving into Theoretical Physics and Exploring the Limitless Possibilities of Science

Eden achieved A grades in all three of his A-Level subjects and received offers to study Physics at King’s College London, the University of Edinburgh and the University of St Andrews, among other leading universities. Alongside his academic strengths in Physics, Eden actively explored interdisciplinary opportunities. He was awarded a Global Silver Award and a National Gold Award in the Junior Canadian Chemistry Olympiad (JCCO). He also conducted systematic independent research into 3D printing, completing 1,296 experimental tests and an EPQ-related project, for which he achieved an A* grade.

Beyond academics, Eden used his CCA time to guide younger students in 3D-printing techniques. Through a cycle of enquiry, practice and sharing, he turned his own learning into meaningful support for others.

Leo

Crossing Subject Boundaries and Embarking on a New Path in Business

Leo received offers to study Chemistry from University College London, King’s College London and Durham University. However, he ultimately chose to pursue Business at the University of Melbourne. Since beginning IGCSE, Chemistry had always been Leo’s comfort zone. He consistently achieved A grades or above, and received a National Silver Award in the JCCO, a Gold Award in the British Physics Olympiad (BPhO), and a National Honourable Mention in the PhysicsBowl competition. However, a Year 11 course on new energy vehicles gave him a first-hand insight into how technology intersects with the business world, prompting him to reconsider his future direction. With the support of his university guidance counsellor, Leo shifted from a science-based application pathway to Business, gradually gaining confidence in his choice.

Reflecting on his transition from a local state school to international education, Leo believes that his greatest gain has been the autonomy, time and space to explore. Through this process, he discovered the direction that truly suited him. Education gave him room to reflect — and helped him better understand his own aspirations.

Haslina

Exploring Diverse Possibilities and Growing on a Wider Stage

With A Level grades of A*, A and A, Haslina received multiple offers from leading universities across a range of interdisciplinary programmes during the graduation season. As Student Council President, she developed extensive organisational and leadership experience through event planning and resource coordination. On the TEDx stage, she demonstrated her strengths in critical thinking and communication. At the Beyond COP21 UK-wide forum, she shared thoughtful perspectives on environmental issues. Photography, meanwhile, offered her another way to observe and express her understanding of the world. Her explorations across different fields have continually expanded her capabilities and helped her develop a fuller, more independent sense of self. She has grown across leadership, academic ability, communication skills and humanistic understanding.

Haslina’s journey reminds us that the purpose of education is not to define students by a single standard, but to support every student in creating their own multidimensional story of growth.

Henry

Setting a Clear Goal and Turning a Breakthrough into a Transformation

Three years ago, Henry realised that the purely score‑driven approach of the public school education system was not allowing him to fully develop his strengths. He decided to switch to an international track and enrolled at YWIES Tongxiang. Here, a diverse curriculum let him explore broadly, gradually finding his interests and clarifying his academic path. The IGCSE phase was crucial for adapting to the new system, and during A‑Level he continually refined his learning strategies with teacher support, eventually receiving an offer from a QS top‑100 university for Hospitality Management. Except for academic studies, he was selected for the school basketball team, where systematic training and matches gave him valuable friendships and teamwork skills, showing that passion for hobbies and studies can coexist. 

From lacking confidence about the future to holding a top‑university offer, Henry achieved a remarkable turnaround in three years.
