    • We are proud to announce that Grade 12 student Eden Xu has received offers from three prestigious universities: King's College London, the University of Edinburgh, and the University of St Andrews. His unwavering dedication to physics has successfully secured him a place to study Theoretical Physics at these world-class universities.

This achievement serves as both a testament to Eden's academic passion and a vivid reflection of YWIES Tongxiang's "student-centered" holistic education. At our school, we are committed to ensuring that every student's unique interests are nurtured and their full potential is realized.

Join us in this edition as we get to know Eden and the story behind his unwavering dedication.

      Empowering Passion

      Interdisciplinary Contests and Practical Application

"Teachers here provide full access to competitions and labs, encouraging me to explore without limits."

Beyond his dedication to Physics, Eden excels across disciplines. In the Canadian Chemistry Olympiad (JCCO), he received personalized coaching and strategic support from our faculty. This preparation paid off as he won a Global Silver and National Gold Medal, showcasing his strong academic versatility.

At YWIES Tongxiang, Eden's passion for physics is tangible and dynamic.

Eden seized the opportunity to join the school's new Electives Curriculum, an innovative STEM and 3D Printing courses this semester. More than just an interest, these skills have become a vital weapon in his academic arsenal.

Eden dove into material science through his EPQ on "3D Printing Parameter Optimization." making full use of the school's open labs. The project demanded advanced physics knowledge and practical skill. Through strict modeling and analysis, Eden completed a high-caliber study that bridges theory with technical application.

*The EPQ (Extended Project Qualification) is a research-based project recommended by the UK Department for Education and UCAS. It is a key component of the A Level curriculum designed to assess students' independent research capabilities.

At YWIES Tongxiang, Learning Extends Beyond the Classroom Walls.

      From Theory to Practice

During Community Day and the Student Market charity auction, Eden brought his 3D modeling and printing creations to the "market." His work was an instant hit, receiving enthusiastic support from fellow students.

      To Teach is to Learn

During Co-Curricular Activities (CCA), Eden transformed from student to "mentor." Volunteering his time, he taught younger students the intricacies of 3D printing, deepening his own understanding while inspiring the next generation.

This integrated approach of 'Inquiry, Practice, and Sharing' turned abstract physics research into a tangible source of creative fulfillment.

      Customized Pathways

      Strategic Planning from Grade 10

"Behind every offer lies three years of strategic preparation."

Eden attributes his success to the customized support of our Careers and University Guidance Office (CUGO), which has provided tailored, one-on-one academic planning since his enrollment.

      01

      Targeted Strategy,

      Top University Success

Identifying Eden's potential in Theoretical Physics, our counselors crafted a 'Golden Strategy' targeting the Russell Group's best. With top-tier programmes at King's College London, the University of Edinburgh, and the University of St Andrews, this selection perfectly matched Eden's ambitions with Europe's leading institutions.

      02

      Crafting the Narrative:

      Showcasing True Potential

Instead of cataloging achievements, Eden's personal statement emphasized his research journey. It detailed his theoretical reflections and the 'hard yards' of experimentation—including 1,296 tests to optimize just one parameter. This demonstrated to admissions officers a candidate who is grounded, focused, and deeply resilient.

      03

      Global Vision,

      Infinite Inspiration

Regular campus visits from global universities opened new doors for Eden. A presentation by a University of Melbourne admissions officer provided key academic insights, inspiring him to apply to leading Australian schools as well.

      Holistic Education:

      Discipline, Care, Future

"The Madam Tsang Chor-hang Memorial Scholarship stands as a powerful testament to his unwavering dedication."

Beyond his academic excellence, Eden is known for his self-discipline and kindness. He balances intense dedication to physics with genuine care for others. Grateful for the supportive environment at school, Eden is committed to continuing this legacy. He plans to return as a volunteer to mentor younger students, passing on the encouragement he once received.

Looking ahead, Eden holds a resolute and far-reaching vision. After his university studies, he aims to dedicate himself to research in his professional career.

Congratulations, Eden! Keep shining as you explore the infinite universe of physics!
