「Hot Pot Night」Cozy Autumn Gathering
On October 27th, with autumn deepening, our Residence Hall department organized a warm hot pot feast for returning boarders. Students selected ingredients in groups, paired them with drinks and sauces, and enjoyed the meal together.
The room was filled with steam and laughter as students bonded in a relaxed atmosphere, preparing for their upcoming studies and looking forward to the next hot pot night.
「Healthy Cooking & Nutrition」Workshop
On October 29th, an English workshop was also shared by Mr Dereck Lau from NYU's Nutrition and Dietetics programme for Secondary students. Dereck introduced various cooking methods, distinguishing between moist and dry heat techniques, and discussed their pros and cons. Students learned about food safety, boiling points, and the Maillard reaction, and were encouraged to be creative in the kitchen following Ethan Chlebowski's framework.
The workshop explored Samrin Nosrat's "Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat," highlighting the importance of these elements in flavor enhancement. Students improved their cooking skills and prepared for future overseas living.
