To deepen home-school collaboration and support holistic student development, we held an inaugural 2025-2026 Home-School Communication Session on September 26th. The event featured a Principal's information sharing, curriculum briefings, and classroom visits, creating a transparent platform for parents to collaboratively foster student growth and future success.
Our Western Co-Principal, Ms Christine Carey's insightful presentation commenced with a comprehensive review of September's achievements. She highlighted the successful completion of G2-G12 academic assessments, the launch of innovative Elective Courses, robust progress in student leadership development, and systematic university application guidance.
She also emphasized the effective implementation of curriculum across all subjects and the significant enhancement of students' comprehensive skills. Crucially, the school's unwavering commitment to student well-being was evident through regular child protection training and emotional health screenings, fostering a safe, warm, and caring environment.
Ms Christine Carey also outlined upcoming activities and learning plans, meticulously designed to integrate teaching with student life, foster mutual progress, and achieve synergistic educational outcomes. She emphasized that true education transcends academic excellence, prioritizing students' comprehensive and healthy growth.
This session further clarified the school's educational philosophy – integrating Eastern and Western approaches to foster individualized development – through curriculum briefings for each academic stage, which included:
01 Primary Section
The Primary curriculum focuses on cultivating learning interest and foundational academic skills. Built upon robust bilingual instruction, it leverages inquiry-based learning and rich practical activities to foster comprehensive cognitive, emotional, and social development. Specific progress in Mathematics, English, and Chinese subjects was also highlighted.
02 Lower Secondary Section
A detailed overview was provided for subjects such as Mathematics, English, Visual Arts, Music, Physical Education, Chinese, Science, Information Technology, and Humanities (History), outlining their curriculum framework, learning content, assessment methods, and progress tracking. Practical advice for parents on supporting learning at home was also shared, with the goal of comprehensively developing students' various skills.
03 Upper Secondary Section (IGCSE & A Level)
In-depth discussions covered subjects such as Visual Arts & Design, Music, Physical Education, Physics/Biology/Chemistry, Computer Science, Global Perspectives, Economics, and Chinese (Humanities). Each discipline detailed its curriculum structure, content, assessment, and faculty, highlighting the cultivation of critical thinking, practical innovation, and essential 21st-century skills.
04 Upper Secondary Section (DSE)
Key discussions focused on core and elective course planning, student conduct, the Hong Kong study trip, and academic integrity. This comprehensive approach aims to fully prepare students for the DSE exam and their future development.
In addition to curriculum overviews for each stage, the session also featured a UK Study Tour (Knowle Hall) briefing, a University Guidance workshop, and dedicated discussions on student psychological support and well-being. This demonstrates the school's deep commitment to holistic student development and strong home-school partnership.
More than just a one-way information transfer, this session facilitated an in-depth dialogue between home and school.
We jointly planned for personalized student growth, celebrating their steady progress in international education and their promising future.
Let's continue to unite, home and school, to shape their bright tomorrow!
