On May 15th, the fourth session of the YCYW Education Lecture Series, "How Should the Curriculum Address Contemporary Challenges" was successfully held at YWIES Tongxiang.
The event featured Professor Lu Zhiping, an expert from the Curriculum Reform Advisory Panel for Basic Education at China's Ministry of Education, as the keynote speaker and was hosted by Mr Michael Mei, the Chinese Co-Principal of YWIES Tongxiang.
Professor Lu Zhiping began the lecture by analyzing the diverse challenges education faces globally, such as the digital wave, deepening globalization, and the growing demand for individualized development. He emphasized that traditional educational models must transform, with curriculum reform being key to developing future-ready talent.
Professor Lu emphasized that education should shift from simply transmitting knowledge to inspiring students' thinking and problem-solving skills. He discussed how schools can foster core competencies and future competitiveness according to the new Chinese national curriculum framework.
He highlighted the need for future-oriented curricula to be aligned with the real world, centered on students, and to promote interdisciplinary integration, practical innovation, and personalized learning.
During the lecture, Mr Michael Mei, our Chinese Co-Principal, noted that Professor Lu's insights offered valuable guidance for curriculum reform.
He highlighted the school's efforts in educational innovation, such as the integrated curriculum, interdisciplinary project-based learning, and international college planning. Mr Mei emphasized that YWIES Tongxiang aims to further innovate in education to cultivate students with global perspectives, empathy, and future competitiveness.
Professor Lu stressed the importance of collaboration between families, schools, and communities. He encouraged parents to support curriculum innovation and work with schools to enhance educational quality.
This lecture, part of the YCYW Education Lecture Series, offered participants advanced educational insights and showcased the school's commitment to promoting educational exchange and collaborative learning.
