How should Children's Day really be spent?

This year, we chose a different path—Putting the decision of "what to do and how to do it" right into the hands of the kids and their loving teachers.

PART / 01

Ask. Design. Create: 

Their Dream Children's Day.

Weeks before the event, we surveyed our primary students and teachers:

"What do you want to do most for Children's Day?"
"How would you design it?"

The answers were surprisingly unanimous:

"No more just sitting and watching shows."
"We want to play with our teachers!"
"Running, treasure hunts, gift exchanges, snacks, and movies."

Thus, instead of the usual "school dictates, students follow," this year's celebration grew organically from their own ideas.

When we truly listen, children feel respected and empowered as the true owners of their special day. That feeling of "being heard" is the best Children's Day gift of all.

PART / 02

Event Day: Teacher Hide-and-Seek — The Crowd Favorite!

This was the undisputed favorite of the day.

The rules were simple: 13 teachers hid in secret spots across the campus.

Students teamed up with friends to find as many "hidden" teachers as possible within a single class period.

The best part? The teachers took it very seriously. (Some were never found at all!)

Teachers hid under mannequin skirts, inside cars, and crouched in blind spots behind sofas...

Teaming up like little detectives, kids sprinted across the campus—searching, screaming, and laughing. 

Every discovery sparked wild cheers, with the "caught" teachers doubled over laughing.

A breathless, sweaty boy exclaimed:"I never knew teachers played hide-and-seek! And they're so good at it!"

A teacher later recalled with a smile:"Hiding behind a box, hearing their footsteps approaching... my heart raced faster than when I'm teaching!"

This wasn't a show or a competition. 

It was a truly equal, joyful interaction.

As teachers transformed from "authorities on the podium" to "hidden playmates," the teacher-student dynamic shifted subtly yet profoundly.

Amidst the running and laughing, kids honed their observation, logic, and teamwork skills. 

More importantly, they realized: teachers can be great playmates, too.

This newfound trust and connection will quietly carry over into the classroom—because a child who likes their teacher naturally loves to learn from them.

PART / 03

Thrift Market

Across the market zones, kids and teachers brought at least three "gently used" items—toys, books, or stationery.

The best part? No cash allowed. 

Everything was traded using swap vouchers!

Kids proudly showcased their items while eagerly exploring others' treasures. A finished storybook was traded for a puzzle; an old doll was swapped for a cute ceramic bowl.

Meanwhile, teachers and student council members kept things running smoothly, guiding the children to trade fairly and politely.

"I didn't spend a single dime, but I got a book I’ve wanted to read for ages!" one student cheered.

"I traded my little dinosaur. It was hard to part with, but seeing how much they loved it made me really happy."

This was a mini "social classroom." Without money, kids had to figure out: How to present their items? How to ask politely? How to handle rejection or hesitation?

These seemingly simple interactions quietly nurtured their communication, negotiation skills, and empathy.

More importantly, they learned that value isn't just about a price tag. A pre-loved item can easily become someone else's treasure.

It was the most vivid lesson in sustainability and sharing.

Movie Time & Gift Giveaway

To wrap up the event, the kids split into two groups to enjoy some fun, lighthearted English movies (with Chinese subtitles). And of course, plenty of snacks were provided!

Before heading home, each child received their very own special Children's Day gift.
 

No elaborate ceremonies. Just quiet companionship and a warm ending.

After a full day of excitement and running around, the kids needed a moment to wind down. Watching a movie together offered a quiet, shared companionship—a chance to laugh, gasp, and be moved together.

When picking out their own gifts at the very end, the kids felt remembered, valued, and blessed. Instead of a rushed ending, the festival drew to a gentle close, sending them home fulfilled and hopeful.

A Display Board: Making Every Child "Seen"

At the lobby entrance, we specially designed an interactive display board.

Set against a warm, light-blue background, the board read: "Leave Your Smile."

Surrounded by a blank canvas were colorful dot stickers—like a spilled jar of Skittles.

Upon entering, kids grabbed black markers to draw their own smiles on the dots. Some were wonky; others featured glasses, bows, or even buck teeth. Even teachers couldn't resist sneaking in a doodle.

By day's end, the board was covered in unique smiles. From afar, it looked like a crowd of joyful kids smiling right at you.

Every smile was different, just like every child. There were no grades, no comparisons, no "good or bad"—every smile was equally cherished.

When a child tiptoed to leave their mark, they were declaring: "I am here. I am part of this." This sense of belonging and being "seen" is the gentlest nourishment for their growth.

The true stars of Children's Day aren't the schedules or the shows—they are the growing children.

But teachers are just "grown-up kids," too.

So today, we prepared special gifts for them as well.

Because we know they are used to being adults, but today, they get to be kids again.

Together, we celebrate and safeguard the pure inner child within us all.

As the saying goes: “Education is a tree shaking a tree, a cloud moving a cloud, a soul awakening another soul.”

When teachers are allowed to drop their "adult" armor and play like kids, the dynamic shifts from "managing and teaching" to "companionship and mutual growth."

A happy teacher raises happy kids; a cherished teacher treats every student with greater tenderness.

This two-way warmth is the true essence of Children's Day.
