On July 16-17, a delegation from Yew Chung Yew Wah Education Network (YCYW), including Dr. Esther Chan, Deputy CEO (K-12 Education); Mr. Kevin Huai, Chief School Regulation Officer and General Manager of Shanghai Management Company; Ms. Rita Chen, Chief School Operations Officer; Ms. Cindy Xie, Regional Marketing and Admissions Head (Shanghai Region); and Mr. Arthur Ip, Deputy School Business Manager of YWIES Zhejiang Tongxiang, visited Hangzhou. They met with Mr. Terence Lau, Director of the Hong Kong SAR Government Zhejiang Liason Unit; Mr. Louis Tong, Chairman of the Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce in Zhejiang; and Ms. Eileen Zhu, HKTDC Zhejiang Representative, Vice President and Secretary-General of the Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce in Zhejiang, to explore deeper educational cooperation between Hong Kong and Zhejiang.
90 Years of Educational Excellence: Building Bridges Between Zhejiang and Hong Kong
During the meetings, the YCYW delegation introduced the network’s 90-year legacy of academic and holistic education, blending Eastern and Western pedagogies. They emphasized YWIES Zhejiang Tongxiang’s role as a key international education hub in the East China region, committed to providing Zhejiang students with world-class learning opportunities. The team expressed hopes to leverage YWIES Zhejiang Tongxiang as a platform to foster greater collaboration between Hong Kong and Zhejiang, enabling resource sharing and mutual growth.
Leveraging Hong Kong’s Strengths for International Education
Representatives from Hong Kong institutions and the Chamber of Commerce praised YCYW’s educational philosophy and achievements, and acknowledging Hong Kong’s unique advantages in areas such as the HKDSE curriculum, university placement support, and global perspective development. Both sides discussed potential collaborations, including:
Promoting HKDSE: Offering Zhejiang students diversified pathways to higher education and career development in Hong Kong, supporting Hong Kong’s goal to attract more talent and professionals.
Engaging Hong Kong Enterprises and Professionals: Partnering with Hong Kong-owned businesses and expatriates in Zhejiang to facilitate school-enterprise exchanges, cultural activities, and career guidance programmes.
Collaborating for a Brighter Future
This visit laid a solid foundation for future cooperation between YCYW and Hong Kong-Zhejiang stakeholders. Moving forward, YWIES Zhejiang Tongxiang will continue to serve as a bridge between the two regions, promoting synergies in education and providing Zhejiang students with unparalleled global learning opportunities—further enhancing the "Study in Tongxiang" brand.
