Mr Max Caruso

Western Co-Principal

Mr Max Caruso is the Western Co-Principal of YWIES Tongxiang. Born in Rome, Italy, he immigrated to Melbourne, Australia with his family where he until recently resided.

Mr Caruso is a senior education executive, and current Doctoral student, with over 25 years of experience in education and industry. He holds various undergraduate and postgraduate degrees from a number of Australian universities, including a master’s degree in Educational Leadership.

Mr Caruso has held diverse leadership portfolios ranging from year level leadership and management, the creation of an education specific Year 9 Campus, leading and managing international students, to leading change in schools as a Deputy and Acting Principal. He has also taught a range of subject areas in secondary schools as well as having lectured in Educational Leadership at the master’s level.

Apart from serving as CEO to an international college, as a senior consultant to Independent Schools Victoria, in his capacity as Principal Education Advisor – (Partnerships), he provided high-level advice to principals, leadership teams and other education executives and was instrumental in leading improvement in student outcomes in literacy, numeracy and student well-being within the 15 schools for which he had responsibility.

In December, 2013, Mr Caruso was awarded the Leadership for Learning Award by Victoria University in collaboration with the Australian Council for Educational Leaders, in recognition of his contribution to leadership in schools and in achieving excellence in his Doctoral coursework.
